Polupus Deckling

Hi,

I love weird decks. I love budget decks too.

Modern is the format I'm most comfortable building in, but presents a challenge for building affordable weird decks that can survive in such a crazy fast format. So mostly I play casual and sometimes take the decks to small local tournaments to tweak them.

Im just starting to get into edh and Padeem, Consul of Innovation is my starting point.

My strongest color is black by far, followed by blue, then white.

I'm mostly attracted to control or combo style decks, but I do occasionally like aggro if there is something novel about the creatures.

Your main deck is fine. I dont think you should change anything because burn wants redundancy above all else.

I dont think Manamorphose will improve anything. Its just another spell thats not doing damage to your opponent and forcing you to take some from your eidolon when trying to dig for a burn spell seems bad to me.

The sideboard is really the main area for improvement. You have a lot of graveyard and artifact hate. I would recommend only 2 slots for those graveyard match ups since most gravebased decks are slower that you and burn gets into trouble when it starts bringing in more than 3 cards that dont deal damage. Those slots are better used on Grim Lavamancer which is great against affinity and infect, the 2 decks you actually have to play more defensively against.

I dont know your meta but if you are having trouble with artifacts you should try Smash to Smithereens instead of Kataki, War's Wage. Modern is filled to the brim with creature removal and it could just eat it to some bolt before it ever impacts your opponents board.

Hope some of this is useful.

Skin Invasion  Flip and Otherworldly Outburst would be pretty sweet in here.

Decimator Web or Caress of Phyrexia? In case creatures cant get through something like Ensnaring Bridge or Sphere of Safety perhaps.

There is the Ponza style deck that turns stuff into artifacts then destroys them with Liquimetal Coating and Splinter or other cheap artifact destruction

Wizard's Retort is the new wizard tribal counterspell from dominaria that might be really strong in UB fae. All your creatures are wizards!

Ever thought about Proteus Staff or Polymorph?

With so few creatures you can reorganize your entire library how ever you want with the staff. Add in just 1 creature like Kederekt Leviathan and you can do some pretty mean things.
