Polupus Deckling

Hi,

I love weird decks. I love budget decks too.

Modern is the format I'm most comfortable building in, but presents a challenge for building affordable weird decks that can survive in such a crazy fast format. So mostly I play casual and sometimes take the decks to small local tournaments to tweak them.

My strongest color is black by far, followed by blue, then white.

I'm mostly attracted to control or combo style decks, but I do occasionally like aggro if there is something novel about the creatures.

Hi,

I'm new to the format and this is the first EDH deck I've been able to make as most of my collection is black 4-of's it's only recently I've been able to put something coherent together (ha! if that).

So here is my Shirei budget deck. I tried to make it more political than oppressive, but if left unchecked it can really lock down the board. Looking for suggestions/cuts/ideas any and all! Thank you in advance!

+1 Nice! Looks really strong. Not sure what I could contribute here that you probably haven't already thought of. Maybe some way to flicker avacyn if you don't have one already?

I'm new to the format.

You only need 3 creatures and 3 lands (one being a green source) to go infinite

it's harder to interact with and you can generate infinite tokens on opponent's end step. With your other combo creatures, they have to sit on the field for an entire turn and are vulnerable to removal.

@ TheDuggernaught :

I agree. Splashes do add flexibility and I am planning/building up the mana base for the green splash for Abrupt Decay and Life from the Loam. The latter especially as it would let me run a more artifact centric build with Buried Ruin and the Ghost Quarter trick you mentioned. That being said, I do like the consistency of mono black and Blood Moon decks are funny to play against in mono black.
