Polupus Deckling

Hi,

I love weird decks. I love budget decks too.

Modern is the format I'm most comfortable building in, but presents a challenge for building affordable weird decks that can survive in such a crazy fast format. So mostly I play casual and sometimes take the decks to small local tournaments to tweak them.

My strongest color is black by far, followed by blue, then white.

I'm mostly attracted to control or combo style decks, but I do occasionally like aggro if there is something novel about the creatures.

It's been a year since I last commented here and this is still by far the best affinity deck I've seen on this site!

Your deck is my go-to affinity opponent for testing out any of my modern deck ideas (even if many don't run Day's Undoing). GOOD JOB!

cut a BSZ and a Necrogen Mists for another Beseech the Queen and now the deck is at 60

Actually I'll cut it and see if it makes a big difference or not

@emrakulinsmugglers:

Elixir of Immortality is in here because why not? There really is no downside to adding 1 extra card that does what elixir does. It compensates for its own statistical downside being the 61st card in the deck, especially with Liliana Vess and her -2.

I think I got something (finally) that is fun and terrifying as a creatureless finisher for this deck: Mindslaver

Thoughts?

What issues are you coming up against with this?

From playtesting this a bit I thought the mana was leaning a little too heavily toward red when you need white for most your early game defense.

why no Pestermite?

...and only 2 instead of 4 kiki?

Oh whoops my bad. You're right. I guess Commandeer would be the only option and not a very playable one.

All the things you need from your sideboard are not blue lol

With blue you get the counterspells Dispel and Negate to protect your combo so that's nice.

Other than that I can't think of much else that blue can help your sideboard situation.

Not really a sideboard suggestion but blue, does give you Drift of Phantasms as a tutor that might fit with your game plan (somewhat).

Hey all,

I've been tweaking this deck for a long time, then I gave up on it to try out some kind of weird land destruction mono b control, but that didn't work out so well, now I've come back to this original deck idea. Looking for some good sideboard options. Let me know what you think.

Man, I love what the new set is doing for living end! +1

Your mana looks ok for blue. Maybe add Cascade Bluffs to convert some of that monkey mana from Simian Spirit Guide?

My 2cents, I don't think you should get rid of green either. Green has a lot of good sideboard options as well that you'd be cut off from.
