jconeil1988 Thank you for the ideas. I think my deck would certainly benefit from cutting unoptimal creatures for protection. I haven't had the same difficulties as you have described though, probably because of my play group. Phage definitely paints a target on my face, as does Phyrexian Dreadnaught. My play style though is not to have the most optimal deck, but a deck that can hold its own against my friends decks. I like having a disadvantage, to a degree. I tend to go for what I find fun, rather than what is most competitive. Not that either play style is better. If my deck does start getting stomped on the regular though, I will definitely keep your thoughts in mind. Each creature is in the deck for a reason, but some of those reasons are less relevant to most games than others, and reading through the primer that you mentioned I agree that some of the high cost creatures in the deck would be a detriment as they take away the ability to protect Lazav.
