Forceofnature1 Deckspert

Magic is fun! I have a few EDH decks, mostly casual but enjoy being somewhat competitive (or at least a huge problem for the table).

I have a selection of decks below that I have made in real life and playtested in single and 4 man pod play. I like my decks to have a purpose, and if they win that's cool too. My latest work has been my BBSH Inc. Gitrog deck.

I had an EDH cube that I turned into a couple trade binders, thinking of putting together another cube with a few different themes in mind. Ideas include:

  1. Mono-Color Gods at War
  2. Two-Color Guild Wars
  3. Weird Tribal. You see the usual tribal stuff all the time, I'm trying to make some different tribal decks and welcome ideas! Tribal Treefolk, Cats, and Werewolves are on the table already. Just need something more for Red/Blue/white colors as green and black are pretty covered.

Hey, I saw your comment on the Riku EDH wall today, and you might check out my Gemini Wizard of Storms deck for some reference.

Hey hey nice Riku deck! Definitely seems like the quintissential roll with the punches riku deck. He can draw a lot of hate if he gets too active too quickly, I've found. I like that you have the option to end things several ways or copy buffers that make people want to stay away from your creatures. My deckbuild is fairly similar but I use a few cheesier removal spells because of the color combinations.

I like building Riku decks where I don't know what's EXACTLY going to happen but there is enough good stuff where I can either effect the board or, like your friends say, go from no board state to "I win" haha. Good counterspells make that happen, counterspells on bodies are even better.

I'm actually looking to update my Riku deck but I am torn as to which route to go. I have been collecting some eldrazi and thought that could get a little ridiculous. He has such explosive ramp it wouldn't take much to pair down some other things to try and rush and drop eldrazi. Once you get to the point you can produce the mana you should have plenty of buffers out to protect Riku and your other creature drops.

The other option was using some of these fun dinosaurs from Ixalan and Rivals. There are a bunch of very vanilla ones, but as a "tribal" they work pretty well and some of the Enrage mechanics would be good in EDH (especially doubled with Riku).

Hey hey nice Riku deck! I am looking at creating a Riku Master of the Blind Eternities Eldrazi deck. The ramping ability with Riku is amazing, so I figured I would maximize the land cantrips and then start dropping out copyable eldrazi.

I like your combos and the reactive style your deck has. Do you play with a playgroup or is this something you like plopping down with strangers?

Wow, it's been a while since I checked in but it looks like you have been PLENTY busy! I was just looking through my atraxa deck and wondering at some of the new walkers. I have the artifact dragon so I can probably pieces most of this together. Might have to go on a hunt for some of those enchantments in order to maximize the sterling grove effect.

I had a couple questions for you-1. How have you liked constant mists? I often find that saccing a land is more harmful with no way to replenish it (early game) and I have to be ready to lose whatever the first walker I put out on the board.

  1. What is your focus in the early game, accelerating or buffering yourself?

  2. How does this deck typically play? I imagine that the new commander helps speed things along and provides his own deterrent. Do you feel like you are struggling to start and hoping to make it to mid-late game or do you typically have enough cheap counters to help you stall the other side? My problem with counterspells is that there so many threats in a typical EDH deck that unless you have a way to recur them they can be wasted on something. I know I know, part of it is picking and choosing. But with your suite of board wipes- what do you usually use your counterspells on? Things that target your enchantments/commmander? Seems those are the true gears here, as you can't guarantee which walkers you'll stumble onto.

Sorry if that was a lot, I'm playing with a new playgroup and want to highlight my badass planeswalkers but think that Atraxa is a little clunky/vulnerable with all the walker hate out there. The artifact commander makes the mana issue a lot easier, so I'm thinking this will be my best build moving forward for playability and interaction with the board. Oh yeah and I want to win haha.
