DanteBeleren Deckling

I started playing during the end of Shadowmoor with Shards being my first release. Originally was just a "kitchen" table player at my school with 10+ other guys. When EDH started circulating around 2008 I was immediately hooked and built Sharuum the Hegemon. It was total Esper themed garbage... But that didn't stop me! Continued to play and grow as a player while I began reading the books and digging into the lore of the game.

Around 2010 a local shop began holding a weekly EDH league where I started meeting a lot of different players and styles to play. Took a break from the game while I went to college, but picked it back up a couple years later just in time for Journey into Nyx.

So here I am 9 years later, ever the EDH player and lore-whore. I like to build decks that a new player could pick up and play easily, but even advance players will find enjoyment in. I love lore styled decks and they are my favorite to build, but that's not to say I won't occasionally build a deck that will rip out an opponent's heart and set it on the table in front of them to look at.

All that said, I hope you all enjoy going through my decks and even give them a try at some point. If you wanna give them a +1 I'll be overjoyed, but I can live with some good suggestions or comments. Either way, thanks for time in reading all this and taking a look at my decks!

Dude, I would love to hear how that turns out if you do! I occationally will pass out decks to my group to do that too, but as a heads up the series are unbalanced in favor of the Axis decks due to the goal of playing archenemy with them. Gatewatch vs Eldrazi or Bolas etc., but all vs all would be amazing too!

Lol I wasn't really expecting anyone to pick up on that, but yes that was intentional. The reasoning of it being WW2 (imo) was that WW1 for Magic was Urza vs Phyrexia. My reasoning is, multiple conflicts with core groups over multiple planes.

Thank you! As long as Wizards keeps giving me good themes and characters to mess with I'll keep making those styles of decks. Once Ixalan comes out I'm probably gonna do Vraska or Garruk (whether combined or separate I haven't made up my mind yet).

Alright, understandable. The way I look at any deck is I give myself a set number of cards for each type or what each card offers. So since you want Treefolk/fatty bootied plants, I'd go with... 25 "theme" cards. 35 lands is my go to which would put you at 60 cards with the rest being support/fill. Of those remaining 40 I'd go, 5 wipes 5 spot removal, 10 draw, 10 ramp, and 10 general support. Of course you can tweak those numbers however, but it's good to have a basis. Once you start doing that you might realize you're going total overkill on one category and swapping cards around isn't as hard as it was (sometimes it is harder though lol).

All that said, a rough list I'd go with is something like this (again this is your deck and by all means take this with a grain of salt and/or ignore it if you see fit):

Regardless of what you do with any/all of that, good luck and hope you enjoy playing your deck!

Well, with the announcement of the Tribal dragon EDH precon, I'd suggest going with one of those generals over Scion for a 5 color tribal deck since most people will look at Scion and assume "Combo player"!

If you wanna stick with Scion, I'd recommend going the grave recursion route (as I can see you've already got bit of). Some things that can go well into that are Living Death, Altar of Dementia, Leyline of the Void, Wheel Effects (Wheel of Fortune, Windfall, Dark Deal) and if you do Waste Not goes well in conjunction to them.

In regards to generic improvements, Anguished Unmaking is an awesome spot removal card over Mortify and Maelstrom Pulse over Putrefy.

I salute you for not wanting to go with the "generic" Scion build, and it looks like you're going a bit themey which is always a win in my book. If you want to commit to that though, take out Skittles (Skithiryx). I love the card, but you don't need him, especially since you're not running Molten combo anyway. BUT if you do want a dirty af combo, you could consider Worldgorger Dragon w/ Animate Dead and a Comet Storm. It takes a bit more work to pull off and could be an emergancy win button, but still... I think what you're striving for will be awesome with just Dragon Beatface. Good Luck!

Kudos for not going with Superfriends. I enjoy them from time to time, but she really drove them into the ground.

Are you looking to stay with... generic counters good stuff? Or do you wanna focus it into a lean mean killing machine? As much as budget allows for of course...

As a funny add-in to start with since you're running Fog, add in Darkness and Holy Day as well cause... well lawls.

Since you're not running a large amount of land fetching cards, you should be safe with running some multicolored etb tapped lands. Notably the tricolor, pain, and check lands and maybe the temples as they're all pretty cheap (Seaside Citadel, Adarkar Wastes, Glacial Fortress, Temple of Enlightenment, etc)

Also I see you've got Simic's but you should definitely look into picking up the other 5 usable Signets in your colors.

That's all I feel safe with suggesting to start with without a goal you'd like to accomplish, but hopefully you enjoy playing her. I'm a theme junkie myself and went a... "100%" Phyrexia deck version if that inspires anything for ya. Rise of the Praetors.

What kind of additions or help are you looking for with this? Trying to stay in budget or eventually go ham?

Small odd question...

How did you change your... title off of "Deckling" to "Erotic Witch"? If I'm not allowed to or capable that's fine, but for the sake of knowing if I can get rid of that would be awesome lol

Thanks for your time either way!

@n0bunga: Considering you're one of the more prominent users on this site, I thank you highly for your praise.

Deserted Temple gives Nykthos and Coffers a lot more mana access, and when combined Rings of Brighthearth it can generate infinite mana. Plus, using Rings to copy the strionic resonator ability gives Gonti 3 triggers on one etb.

Nirkana Revenant is another mana doubler, as is Bubbling Muck which you could stick under an Isochron Scepter. If you went the scepter route you'll want more things to justify it (Darkness, Tragic Slip, or Altar's Reap for example).

Liliana of the Dark Realms's emblem is very strong and provides mana access. For more of a laugh, you could run Contamination with a Gravecrawler to lock opponents out while you use their cards against them. Both Grave Pact and/or Dictate of Erebos can help fuel cards like Grave Betrayal and keep enemy creature count low.

Overall it looks pretty decent to start with a lower budget. Will be excited to see where you take it. It's not a Gonti deck, but based off your description you might enjoy my Ob's Ambition decklist and might spark some ideas of what might work for you. Good luck!
