Statement of Design Philosophy

Deck design is an opportunity to learn about new cards and critically assess interactions. It is an opportunity to evaluate cards you might never have seen or considered. It is about establishing the set of cards you will most enjoy playing. This is a process which is necessarily prejudiced every time you look at a list similar to the one you are thinking of building. To that end, I encourage you to avoid looking at lists I've created if you are currently drafting lists for a Commander I've built for.

Further, I am strongly of the belief that using sites like EDH Rec destroy the integrity of the deck building process. They result in a less diverse deck construction and play experience. In a broader sense, looking at statistically commonly played cards rather than critically assessing all available options leads to a paucity of knowledge of cards.
