Would primal vigor affect infect tokens?

Does Primal Vigor affect infect tokens as well?

Primal Vigor only doubles tokens (A marker used to represent any permanent that isn’t represented by a card. See rule 110.5.) and +1/+1 counters. Any other type of counter is ignored by Primal Vigor , including both kinds of counters from infect (which are not tokens).

Infect does damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters, and to players in the form of poison counters. Neither of these are +1/+1 counters.

Other counters that may seem like they should be doubled but aren't:

  • The +2/+2 counters from Baron Sengir and several other cards. These are not +1/+1 counters, and are not doubled.

  • The +1/+2 counters from Armor Thrull . Again, not +1/+1 counters.

Infect is actually marked with "poison counters" that are put on a player, rather than a permanent. So no, unfortunately they would not be affected by Primal Vigor .

Also Primal Vigor will not affect any -1/-1 counters placed on creatures due to infect, since the enchantment only affects +1/+1 counters specifically.

Doubling Season can do all that, though.

It's important to note, though, that Doubling Season will not affect poison counters from infect, only the -1/-1 counters from infect, because it specifically affects counters placed on permanents you control. Players are not permanents.

Additionally, Doubling Season won't affect -1/-1 counters going on your opponents' creatures, because you don't control them.

Well then I was wrong about Doubling Season . It can't do any of that, lol.

Good thing somebody's paying attention. =)

It's still important to note that Doubling Season will double -1/-1 counters going on your own creatures, with no option to ignore that, so you weren't all wrong, Gattison. ;)
