Will Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre's first ability trigger if I cheat him into play via Polymorph?

the ability: "when you cast Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, destroy target permanent". Running a polymorph package in my Talrand EDH.

Short answer is no.

The key word on Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre's first triggered ability is "cast". Polymorph merely puts the creature onto the battlefield. A spell or ability only casts a spell if it specifically says it does (a la Sunbird's Invocation), though it is best to check the oracle text and rulings on some of the older cards that say "play" instead of "put onto the battlefield" or "cast"
