Will Phyrexian Obliterator allow the enemy to sac their critter with double strike before its second strike?

Asked by nickiru 9 years ago

If Phyrexian Obliterator is attacking and they block with a 2/2, but before combat damage I slap double strike on their 2/2 using Boros Charm , ( as I understand it ) will the 2/2 first strike and then phyrexian's ability goes on stack and resolves before the second-regular strike allowing them to sacrifice the 2/2 to prevent the second strike?

Yes. Remember that players must pass priority in succession to advance the game to the next step or phase (except in the untap and cleanup steps, during which no players get priority). Because first strike damage and regular damage are handled in separate combat damage steps, abilities that trigger during first strike damage will go onto the stack and resolve before the game advances to the next combat damage step.
