Will an Artifact Trigger Cast function or must be from hand?

Using Soul Separator to bring Distended Mindbender from graveyard to field to trigger its ability, or must Distended Mindbender be "cast" from hand in order to trigger its ability?

Cards function exactly as they're worded.

Soul Separator simply puts two tokens on the field, and you never cast tokens. Distended Mindbender (and anything with Emerge really) must be cast, meaning you pay its mana cost or an alternative cost to cast it from some zone. A card doesn't need to be cast from the hand to be cast, there are cards you can cast from your graveyard (things with flashback like Past in Flames), from exile (Misthollow Griffin), and even from the library (Panglacial Wurm). The only stipulation is that you went through the process of casting it.
