why doesn't Deathtouch and Lure kill all blocking creatures?

Asked by Minelia5 8 years ago

With the deathtouch and lure combo, for example Prized Unicorn + Basilisk Collar, why can't I kill all the enemy creatures that block it? I know that I can't according to multiple sites, but I figured if there is an mtg card named Little Girl that has a half power and can be assigned a half point of damage (I think), why couldn't I just assign a half point of damage to each creature an enemy controls? I'm probably being stupid right now, but I just don't understand. Thank you for explaining!

Unfortunately it doesn't work the way you want because in your scenario, Prized Unicorn only has a power of 2 and therefore can only deal 2 points of damage. That means it can only actually deal damage to up to two creatures (1 point per). Another thing is that the card Little Girl is a card from one of the "Un" sets and are not legal in anything besides friends playing with friends. Those cards have special rules and were really just for fun and silliness. Some cards force you to do dances and others make you play a second game under the table with what is left of your decks.

You can only assign nonzero positive integers of damage.

Notice the border of Little Girl? It is is silver. Silver border cards are not legal in any format and should NOT be considered for rules questions in black border.

Prized unicorn + deathtouch will allow you to assign two damage. You have to assign lethal damage to the first blocker before moving on to assign damage to the next one. With deathtouch, 1 point of damage (the minimum amount) is lethal. So, you can kill only the first two blockers.
