Which Mills First?

Asked by -Mufasa- 9 years ago

Say I have a Paranoid Delusions ciphered onto a creature and attack with my creature. Does the creature deal damage first or does my opponent mill first. What happens first if I have a Mindcrank out.

The creature has to deal damage first because cipher specifically states that the delayed triggered ability triggers only when the creature deals combat damage to a player.

Both the on-damage ability of cipher and the ability of Mindcrank will trigger simultaneously. You choose the order in which the abilities are placed onto the stack. Remember that the topmost ability on the stack will resolve first.

Paranoid Delusions is ciphered onto the creature, and the ability states that the creature has to deal damage for a copy to be cast, so that answers that.

Lets pretend your Paranoid Delusions is encoded onto Invisible Stalker . You attack, and deal one damage. At this point, you have two things that trigger upon damage: your cipher, and your Mindcrank . As they trigger at the same time, you get to choose how then go onto the stack, then they resolve in reverse order. In this particular scenario, order hardly matters, at the opponent will simply have to mill 4 cards.
