Where do creatures go after cards like Act of Treason take control of them?

Asked by nismonate81 8 years ago

In the magic duel orgins xbox one game after they used a similar card to act of treason, the controlled card went to my graveyard, (after it was controlled and atracked me...but I blocked it not killed it) is this right? Or game program error?

If it was Act of Treason stealing one of your creatures and it went to your graveyard after combat or your opponents turn was over in stead of returning to the battlefield under your control then it was either a programming error or your opponent had an effect that allowed them to sacrifice the creature.

Normally a creature taken with Act of Treason will move back to whomever controlled it previously. There are effects like Spinal Embrace that have you sacrifice the creature as a delayed trigger, so in that case the creature would die and go to its owner's graveyard.

The Black/Red archetype deck in Duels Origins has a sub-theme of stealing an opponent's creatures and then sacrificing them for some benefit. Did your opponent have or play something else that would have allowed him to do this? Such cards available in Duels Origins include Bloodflow Connoisseur, Bone Splinters, Consecrated by Blood, Fleshbag Marauder, Nantuko Husk, Fiery Conclusion, and Blazing Hellhound.

And are you absolutely certain you didn't kill it with the block you made? It's really hard to answer this question without more details of what was going on in your game.

Yes I am sure I didn't kill it with my blocker, the controlled card was a 4/3 and I blocked it with a 2/2 , I believe they had Bloodflow Connoisseur because it was a black red deck as you said, another duel orgins xb1 question if you destroy a creature with an equipment attached the equipment, in the video game, became unequipped, and was not destroyed along with the creature is this correct?

Equipment is not destroyed when the creature it's attached to dies unless the effect specifies that it destroys them like in Eaten by Spiders. Auras are not destroyed either, but rather moved to the graveyard as a state-based effect when they are not attached to a valid permanent.

Your opponent having a sac-outlet like Bloodflow Connoisseur is the most likely explanation for why your creature died before you regained control of it.

It's best to ask an unrelated question in a new thread. If another user has the same question then it will be easier for them to find it if you make a new thread for it.
