What happens with Hunted Phantasm and Mogg Bombers?

Asked by UniqueUserID 9 years ago

1) What happens when Mogg Bombers and Hunted Phantasm enter play at the same time? eg - Cold Storage

2) Also what happens if Mogg Bombers is on the field already THEN Hunted Phantasm is summoned?

I know Mogg Bombers effect actives for every creature that comes into play, but I do not know how that works with the stack with this other effect.

Mogg Bombers's ability triggers (triggered abilities trigger, activated abilities are activated) whenever another creature enters the battlefield, even if that creature enters at the same time as Mogg Bombers. And Mogg Bombers's ability resolves and deals 3 damage for each instance on the stack because the damage isn't dependent on the sacrifice.

1/25/2011: The damage is dealt whether or not you sacrifice the Mogg Bombers. For instance, if Mogg Bombers is destroyed or sacrificed in between the time when the ability triggers and when it resolves, then the targeted player will still be dealt 3 damage.

Assuming you control both Mogg Bombers and Hunted Phantasm, you put Mogg Bombers's ability and Hunted Phantasm's ability onto the stack in the order of your choosing. It would be wisest to put Mogg Bombers's ability onto the stack first with Hunted Phantasm's ability above it. That way, Hunted Phantasm's ability will resolve first, and, because Mogg Bombers will still be on the field, you'll get an additional four triggers for Mogg Bombers's ability. If you stack things this way, you get five total Mogg Bombers triggers for 15 damage when everything is done resolving.

Oh damn, does the same also happen in scenario 2?

Yes. Because both abilities trigger simultaneously (they both trigger when Hunted Phantasm enters the battlefield) and because you control both abilities, you choose the order in which they're stacked.

Ah! Another question! Hoprfully I can ask here rather than making a new thread, anywho...

1) Let's say Cold Storage had one Hunted Phantasm, one Mogg Bombers and another 2 misc creatures. Does the stack interfere in anyway with Mogg Bombers ability to count all these creatures? Can he explode for a full 21 damage?

You get the full trigger count.

It's best to apply the principles from previous questions to new questions. All you really need to know is that you get all of the triggers as long as creatures enter simultaneously, and Mogg Bombers doesn't actually need to be on the field for you to get the damage.

Last question I promise!

Would Story Circle only have to use one mana to stop this combo?
