What happens when you bioshift a bioshift?

Asked by BaraBux 6 years ago

I have a managorger hydra who is at a 10/10.

I attack with him. My opponent declares a blocker and uses a bioshift and moves all of the +1 counters on to another creature I control.I have a bioshift that I can add to the stack to undo that. What exactly happens here.

Please link the relevant cards with double brackets [cardname] the next time ;). Bioshift and Managorger Hydra.

So, Managorger Hydra is a 10/10 (so has 9 counters on it) when you attack. Blockers get declared and your opponent casts a Bioshift to move all of the counters to your Elvish Mystic that didn't attack. As a result of this, Managorger Hydra triggers and puts his ability to gain a counter on the stack.
You have some options here:

1: You want to move your counters to another target creature you didn't mention and isn't part of this example.
2: You want to keep the counters on the Managorger Hydra. >br?Assuming you will want to kill the blocker and keep your Managorger Hydra alive, you will go for option 2. There is no tricky way of doing this, as far as I know, so here's what you want to do:

Continuing the mentioned stack, you will let your Managorger Hydra trigger resolve and gain a 10th counter.
>Then you will let the opponent's Bioshift resolve and have the counters put on the other creature.
>Then the stack is empty, and both players must pass priority to continue to the damage phase.
Here is your window!
>You will now cast your Bioshift targetting the other creature and Managorger Hydra to put the counters back. Managorger Hydra will trigger and assuming nothing else happens, it will resolve, giving it a counter.
>Then your Bioshift resolves and you can put however many counters you want from your other creature back to the Managorger Hydra.
>The stack is empty again, and you will pass priority to proceed to damage and kill that pesky blocker.

Just saying but if you used Corpsejack Menace this whole thing wouldn't be an issue lol. Nobody is going to move your +1/+1 counters if they know they'll double. I do like this question though, and indeed you'll be able to move those counters back before the damage step.
