What happens to Loyal Cathar when it dies and I have Athreos on the field?

Asked by Mushtato 9 years ago

If my opponent chooses to take 3 Loyal Cathar  Flip comes back, but what happens if my opponent chooses to put him back in my hand, couldn't I play him before my next end step? If i remember correctly there should be a mainphase 2 after my combat and before my end step which allows me to play loyal cathar again. What would happen then? The other card is Athreos, God of Passage

You could. There is a precombat main phase and a postcombat main phase. You can cast Loyal Cathar  Flip if it is returned to your hand.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, you're asking if you can play Loyal Cathar  Flip during main phase 2 after he dies and is brought back to your hand because of Athreos, God of Passage , right?

If that's the question, then the answer is yes, you can replay him if he is in your hand during main phase 2 (the main phase after combat). You still have to pay for him though, he wouldn't be free or anything.

if I played Loyal Cathar  Flip after he was placed back into my hand, what happens to the 2/1 zombie dude? Does he just not come in then?

By the time the delayed trigger on Loyal Cathar  Flip tries to resolve at the beginning of the next end step, it's no longer in the graveyard, and so nothing will happen.
