What happens to bestowed creatures when their sacrificed?

Asked by Aethaleon 9 years ago

I have Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord on the field. I also have Terra Stomper on the field with Nighthowler bestowed on Terra Stomper . Due to the bestow effect, Terra Stomper has +10/+10. If I use the effect of Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord to sacrifice Terra Stomper , does Nighthowler turn into a creature again? Does sacrificing a creature that has a bestowed creature attached to it cause the bestowed creature to become detached and turn back into a creature? or does it go to the graveyard with the creature it was attached to?

All auras actually unattach from the creature when the creature leaves the battlefield. They never just "go with it"

The reason most people treat it like they "go with it" is that any aura which is no longer attached to anything goes to the graveyard as a state-based effect, so it happens "basically" at the same time. But bestow has a specific alternate case for what happens when the aura is no longer attached to a creature. It becomes a creature.

You'll have a creature Nighthowler

There is nothing special about the sacrifice action with regards to this. Nighthowler detaches and becomes a creature just like it would if the Terra Stomper had been hit with a removal spell or died in combat.

"when *they're sacrificed".

Devonin is correct.
