What happens to a regenerated Boros Reckoner's Damage?

Asked by CkajLanoa 6 years ago

Here's the scinario: Boros Reckoner on my battlefield. Someone fires off an Earthquake, let's say, x=3. Instead of letting my Boros Reckoner die, I cast Golgari Charm, choosing the mass regeneration mode, regenerating my Boros Reckoner. The question is: do I still get the three damage trigger from the Earthquake damage hitting my Boros Reckoner? Thanks!

Of course you get, It takes the damage but when it dies it doesn't because of regenerate

614.8. Regeneration is a destruction-replacement effect. The word "instead" doesn't appear on the card but is implicit in the definition of regeneration. "Regenerate [permanent]" means "The next time [permanent] would be destroyed this turn, instead remove all damage marked on it and tap it. If it's an attacking or blocking creature, remove it from combat." Abilities that trigger from damage being dealt still trigger even if the permanent regenerates.

Still takes damage
