If you sacrifice Golgari Thug to Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire, do you get the card from Golgari Thug or the card that was on top before that?

The card that was on top before that. In this case Golgari Thug is sacrificed as part of the resolution of Vaevictis's ability, so Vaevictis's ability must completely resolve before new objects can be added to the stack. After the Vaevictis trigger has resolved all triggers waiting to go on the stack are added to it in APNAP order, and when it comes to Golgari Thug it resolves and puts a card from your graveyard on top of your library.
