Ugin ultimate multiple lands

Asked by omnipotato 9 years ago

Can you put multiple lands into play with Ugin, the Spirit Dragon's ultimate?

I was pretty sure you could (because it doesn't say "cast without paying mana cost" or "play" but rather "put") but at my LGS they ruled that the lands you play with that effect count toward your max one land per turn.

Lands put onto the battlefield via an ability do not count towards your "land drop" for the turn.

305.4. Effects may also allow players to "put" lands onto the battlefield. This isn't the same as "playing a land" and doesn't count as a player's one land played during his or her turn.

Yes you can do this. The permanent types are irrelevant; they just need to be permanents.

Land plays are a special action that doesn't use the stack. You're limited to one of these special actions per turn on your turns during your main phase normally. The only thing that counts against these is using them, unless you have an effect that is modifying them somehow (such as Aggressive Mining or Exploration).
