triggered before check ab (quick/easy one)?

Asked by thewyzman 9 years ago

Trostani, Selesnya's Voice on the battlefield. I cast another.

Do I gain 5 life (triggered ab) before the current Trostani leaves due to the legendary (check ab?)

Also, is this due to a stack that is created that says just that (triggered before check abs)? I am going to learn the cogs of this game, one way or another!

When the second Trostani, Selesnya's Voice enters the battlefield, the first one's ability will trigger. Before the ability is put onto the stack, you will put one of the Trostani, Selesnya's Voice s into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action. Then, you will put the ability onto the stack. When the ability resolves, you will gain life equal to the last known toughness of the second Trostani, Selesnya's Voice .

If the second Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is on the battlefield, you will use its current toughness. If it is not, you will use the toughness it had as it last existed on the battlefield.

Talk about complex... I mean, I understand the result, but the complex logic may bewilder me for ages.

Are you a qualified judge? You know alot :)

I'm not registered, but I could probably qualify for L1 or L2.

The game rules knowledge is actually harder for the base Rules Advisor status than it is for Judge 1, because the main difference between RA and L1 is the knowledge of tournament and floor rules. The actual card interaction questions on the L1 practice test were, for me anyway, easier than the questions on the Rules Advisor test. It was everything else about the event structure that was the hard part.
