Trampling over a blocker that dissapeared

Asked by Shape_Shifter 6 years ago

One of my opponents was using a Engulfing Slagwurm enchanted with Rancor. We weren't sure how the dammage is calculated in a case where the wurm becomes blocked.

The blocking creature is destroyed as a result, but the wurm is still blocked. You move to dammage and then what happens? Does all the dammage trample over? Is all dammage blocked? Or is the toughness of the creature that dissapeared still to be considered ?

All damage gets dealt to the defending player.

702.19c If an attacking creature with trample is blocked, but there are no creatures blocking it when damage is assigned, all its damage is assigned to the player or planeswalker its attacking.
