Token Sacrificing and Rest in Peace

Asked by tyforthevenom 8 years ago

so i have a combo in a deck i'm building and i'm wondering if it'd still go off with Rest in Peace or something similar on the battlefield the combo is (0 mana equip cost reduction)+ Runed Stalactite + Avacyn's Collar + Mortarpod

assuming that the sacrificed creature is a token to begin with

Unfortunately not. The token that you would sacrifice does not die because it never goes to the graveyard (which is all dying actually is). I assume the 'cost reduction' is from Puresteel Paladin?

As a side note, this combo WOULD work if your opponent had Leyline of the Void because tokens are not cards, so the replacement effect does not apply. Rest in Peace is unique in that it is the only such effect (to my knowledge) that hits tokens as well as cards.
