The difference between put & play what is it?

Just a quick question. Does the Quicksilver amulet's "put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield." Count as play from hand to battlefield?

No. To play a card is to cast it (if it's a nonland) or to put it onto the battlefield as a special action by using an available "land drop" (if it's a land).

To put something onto the battlefield is merely to move it from wherever it is to the battlefield. It doesn't count as playing or casting.

I'm not sure what card your specifically trying to satisfy the conditions for, but remember to check the Oracle text on the Gather website. Most likely it's been updated to say "Cast from hand."
