Thassa, God of the Sea and Claim of Erebos

Asked by timschil 8 years ago

We were playing a really fun game of tiny leaders when my opponent enchanted my Thassa, God of the Sea with his Claim of Erebos. A couple of questions arose. 1) can he use the activated/tapping my Thassa with his Claim of Erebos?2) if my devotion to blue changes after my Thassa is enchanted drops below 5 what will happen to the enchantment. If for example my Thassa gets enchanted with a Pacifism and then my devotion drops making her an enchantment. Will the pacifism "fall off"?

1) No. You control Thassa, and the Claim gives the creature the ability. This means that only YOU can activate it.

2) The Aura will fall off (unless it is something like Steal Enchantment or Indestructibility). Auras are always checking to see if they are attached to legal permanents. If they are not, they are put into their owners' graveyards. The two Auras I provided are examples of Auras that don't care if the enchanted permanent is a creature, so you devotion has nothing to do with whether the Aura will fall off.

All his enchantment does is give Thasa an additional ability. So no, he cannot use the ability of HIS enchantment, while it is on YOUR Thasa. However, if you can generate the black mana, you can use it all you want =P

If the enchantment reads "enchant creature" then it will fall off the second Thasa is no longer a creature.

You should note that this is a state-based effect. It doesn't go on the stack, and cannot be interrupted or responded to. State-based effects just kind of happen
