Sylvan Primordial and Rest in Peace

Sylvan Primordial says specifically, "For each permanent destroyed this way..."

Is a permanent considered destroyed if Rest in Peace stopped it from going to the graveyard? I believe that it has to touch the graveyard, but I'm not certain.

I'm interested also in how sacrifice works with Rest in Peace in the same way. For example, with Smothering Abomination, there's a trigger that takes place when a creature is sacrificed. Another example is Dragon Appeasement. If a sacrificed permanent is exiled before touching the graveyard because of Rest in Peace, is it considered sacrificed for these cases?

Cards are still destroyed/sacrificed and trigger normally when Rest in Peace is in play. Rest in Peace does not prevent or replace being destroyed or sacrificed which is the event those triggers are watching for, it replaces going to the graveyard.

Rest in Peace prevent "dies" triggers, because dies is a keyword that specifically means to move from the battlefield to the graveyard.

To be clear, "sacrifice" and "destroy" are also keywords that mean to put something from the battlefield into the graveyard. "Dies" is different because it's a defined event that the game is looking for, the others are keyword actions where taking the action is what the game is looking for, not the result.

Dies
A creature dies if it is put into a graveyard from the battlefield. See rule 700.4.
Destroy
To move a permanent from the battlefield to its owners graveyard. See rule 701.6, Destroy.
Sacrifice
To move a permanent you control to its owners graveyard. See rule 701.14, Sacrifice.
