Sweet Fumble Tech Questions

Asked by chosenone124 5 years ago

So I'm reading the text of Fumble and I'm seeing some sweet interactions. I'd like to confirm that these work.

Opponent has Uril, the Mistwalker that has Daybreak Coronet, Ethereal Armor, and Lightning Greaves on it.

  1. I cast Control Magic on a random creature. Can I Fumble that creature and attack Control Magic to Uril?

  2. Can I Fumble a Grafted Exoskeleton on Uril, then equip it to one of my creatures to blow Uril up? How about a Sword of Light and Shadow to make all their enchantments fall off?

Yes to 1 and 2b:

6/8/2018: Fumble doesn’t target the creature that it attaches Auras and Equipment to. You can attach Auras and Equipment to creatures you can’t target, such as an opponent’s creature with hexproof.

For 2a you would attempt to sacrifice Uril, the Miststalker, but as you don't control it you won't be able to. Captain's Hook would work as it destroys, but Grafted Exoskeleton does not:

1/1/2011: If Grafted Exoskeleton’s last ability triggers, but you don’t control the permanent it became unattached from at the time that ability resolves (perhaps because another player has somehow gained control of it), you won’t be able to sacrifice it.

just wanna point out that you linked a deck, rather than the card Uril, the Miststalker.

BTW, you wouldn't be able to target Uril with fumble if it has Lightning Greaves equipped due to shroud and Fumble requires a target.

odedonlife You can use Fumble to move enchantments onto hexproof creatures.

You couldn't target your opponent's Uril, the Miststalker even without Lightning Greaves as it has hexproof, fortunately this question has to do with targeting creatures other than Uril with Fumble, and then sneaking equipment and auras onto him.

Ahh yes, my mistake. Then I can confirm:

Q1: As Fumble does not target the creature it attaches the auras and equipment to then it works similarly to Zur the Enchanter and you can attach it to any creature and gets around hexproof/shroud.

Q2: Neotrup was indeed correct as you would not control Uril to sacrifice it. However, if you used the same combo as Q1 you could move Control Magic onto Uril, the Mistwalker and Grafted Exoskeleton (or just equip once you have control) then sacrifice as needed, if needed.
