soulbond and gods losing creatureness

Asked by Estharon 9 years ago

Let's say i have Thassa, God of the Sea (or any other god) out, and she's a creature, paired with Tandem Lookout (or any other soulbonding creature). Then, i somehow lose devotion, and thassa stops being a creature. What happens to the soulbond pairing? And what if I regain enough devotion for thassa to be a creature again?

My theory is that the "paired" state remains, since I still control both of them. But the ability that grants both creatures certain benefits doesn't apply, since even though the lookout is paired, it's not with a creature. Regaining creatureness would therefore restore the benefits granted by soulbond.

Is that correct?

702.94e A paired creature becomes unpaired if any of the following occur: another player gains control of it or the creature it's paired with; it or the creature it's paired with stops being a creature; or it or the creature it's paired with leaves the battlefield.

It becomes unpaired. Resuming creatureness will not resume the pair, nor allow you to pair it again, since it's not entering the battlefield.
