Sorin, Solemn Visitor, how you work?

Asked by Apex_Promethean 9 years ago

If I have Sorin's emblem and my opponent has Erebos, God of the Dead , does he sacrifice him even though he isn't a creature yet? Or must he be a creature for him to be a legal target?

9/20/2014 When the emblems ability resolves, if the player controls no creatures, the player wont sacrifice anything.

If your opponent's devotion to black is not high enough to make Erebos, God of the Dead a creature, he will just be an enchantment. Sorin, Solemn Visitor 's emblem makes your opponent sacrifice a creature, which Erebos may not be.

As long as your opponent doesn't have a devotion to black of five or more, Erebos is not a creature, so he can't be sacrificed.

If he had a devotion of five (including Erebos) and no other creatures on the board, he'd be forced to sac Erebos.

It is also important to note that Sorin's ability doesn't target so it gets around shroud/hexproof.
