Sevinne’s Reclamation second opinion

Asked by Raging_Squiggle 4 years ago

I’m fairly certain of this interaction, but would like some fellow people’s thoughts. I’m aware that auras entering the battlefield by means other than casting it do not target.

If I cast, or flashback, Sevinne's Reclamation , targeting Animate Dead and/or Dance of the Dead , there’s no point between now and the creature they recur being on the battlefield, that my opponents would know what creature I am recurring, consequently they’d have to respond “blind”, correct?

What also gets me, is that when it enters the battlefield, it gains “enchant creature put onto the battlefield with Animate Dead ”, so at this point, it’s already enchanting something in the graveyard, would they know what that is even though it never targeted?

You're right that if you bring an aura onto the battlefield in a way other than casting it, you don't have to choose what you're going to attach it to until it's actually entering the battlefield. If an opponent wants to make a response before the aura gets attached, it will also be before they can know what it's going to be attached to.

For your last question: yes, they know what card in the graveyard Animate Dead is attached to. You have to attach it to something as it enters the battlefield and you have to make it clear exactly what you're attaching it to, even if that object isn't also on the battlefield.
