Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker and his ability

Asked by belugawhaleonthefloor 9 years ago

Alright so I have searched all over the internet for this but never found anything. Does a Planeswalker still have Loyalty Counters on it when its a craeture? I know about combat damage and stuff, but the reason I want to know is not combat related. Ok, so lets say I play Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker's first ability to turn him into a creature. Then, I use Vorel of the Hull Clade to technically double sarkhans loyalty to 10. He is now a creature, so the target is valid for vorel. Theoretically, I can do this. If not, why??

Yes, this is valid. Nothing in Sarkhan's +1 says anything about removing counters, so they will remain on him when he becomes a dragon.

There is no rule that only allows certain kinds of counters to exist on certain kinds of permanents. A non-planeswalker can have loyalty counters on it, but they won't do anything.
