Sacrifice + Regenerate mechanics?
Asked by Clutch7243 9 years ago
Because of the common miss-interpretation of the regenerate mechanic, I figured I would check myself before looking stupid.
If I were to cast a card like Altar's Reap and sacrifice a card like Duty-Bound Dead, could you use the regenerate ability to nullify the sacrifice? Or does that only apply to damage and destroy type scenarios?

Regeneration only replaces destruction. Sacrifice, as you think, is not destruction

Thanks for the quick response, sucks that regenerate doesn't stop sacrifice, but thanks for clearing that up for me.

No. Regenerate is a replacement effect that modifies destruction events. Sacrifice doesn't cause destruction, so regeneration won't apply to it.
