Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and removal interaction

Asked by student-of-life 9 years ago

If I haveI a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed on the battlefield and my opponent cast Murder on him, my opponent still takes the 6 damage correct?

Yes. The ability triggers when your opponent casts the spell. It'll go on top of the stack (above the spell) and resolve before the spell does.

Even if Ruric Thar, the Unbowed left the battlefield first, the ability would still resolve because abilities on the stack exist independently of their sources.

Yes, Ruric Thar's ability triggers off of Murder.

Also, the triggered ability of Ruric Thar will go on the stack on top of Murder, meaning your opponent will get 6 damage, then your creature will die (just if that should become important).

Yes.

They need to cast Murder while Ruric Thar, the Unbowed is on the battlefield in order to target him, and because he is on the battlefield, his ability will trigger when Murder is cast, so he will deal 6 damage.
