Ruling over Wayfaring Temple and cards like him

last week I got into a fight between my opponent and me. not just the actual game but a real battle over the effect of Wayfaring Temple I said that his power and toughness is = to the number of creatures that where present when you cast him but he said that every creature that comes into play fuels him with power. Which one of us won the fight?

Your opponent was correct. Wayfaring Temple has what is called a "characteristic-defining ability" (P/T CDAs are denoted by asterisks). CDAs function in all zones and update according to the current game state.

Wayfaring Temple's P/T scales as the number of creatures its controller controls changes.
