Battlefield, as it replaces the discard, so it would never go to the graveyard. Also when 2 replacement effects happen at the same time, the owner of tge thing being effected chooses which to do.

Smiter only cares about being discarded. Not the destination(gy or exule). So it would go to the battlefield instead of anywhere else. Him being discarded changes his destination to battlefield instead of gy so RIP does nothing in this case

The answer technically is that you choose.

There are two replacement effects here: one from Loxodon Smiter and one from Rest in Peace. Because you're the owner of the affected object (normally it would care about controller, but you don't control the card being discarded), you choose which replacement effect to apply first.

If you apply Loxodon Smiter's replacement effect first, then Rest in Peace's replacement effect can't apply, and Loxodon Smiter will be put onto the battlefield.

If you apply Rest in Peace's replacement effect first, then Loxodon Smiter's replacement effect can't apply, and Loxodon Smiter will be exiled.
