Riku with Progen Mimic

Okay here is an issue I ran into with Riku of Two Reflections and Progenitor Mimic
I Already have Riku in play and cast Progen Mimic, while paying UG to copy the token. As per my understanding since the copy is a token it will NOT produce another of whatever creature I copy at the beginning of my upkeep because Riku says says

Progenitor Mimic 's ability only checks if the source is a token. It doesn't care what ability made the source token, if it is indeed a token.
Because the copy produced by Riku of Two Reflections 's ability is a token, its upkeep ability won't trigger.

Says put in a copy that is a token. Yet my GF says it will. I doubt that. HELP!
