Removal with animated permanents?

Asked by Kcin 9 years ago

How does Doom Blade or Murder and such interact with an animated permanent, say Mutavault or a triggered Halcyon Glaze ? Do the cards end up in the GY? What is the result?

Yes they do. For the time these cards are "animated", they are treated as any other creature would be in all respects. They will end up in the graveyard as a reasult of what you are saying.

ok... I wasn't sure , since it has the " it's still a (x)" clause. I was confused.

That clause is there to keep all interactions with their previous types in effect while they are creatures. For example, if you put Nylea's Presence on Mutavault , if it didn't say that it's still a land, Nylea's Presence would have become unattached from Mutavault when animated. Or so that Halcyon Glaze could still be destroyed with Naturalize or safely blocked by Azorius First-Wing .

Ahh. Got it! Thanks for the clarity and the fast response... I have been playing since both Halcyon Glaze and Azorius First-Wing were standard legal, but I have just recently started using the glaze.
