Regeneration and -X/-X

Asked by Fizzz 9 years ago

Hello,

Does regeneration protect a creature from -X/-X effects?

Would a 1/1 that gets Darkblast ed die, if it is regenerated?

Darkblast makes 1/1 to 0/0. When creature's toughness drops to 0 or less, it dies as a statebased action. There's no time for regenerating.

Excellent!

Damage is removed whereas the -1 effect is not, makes sense. Thanks Colgate!!!

To be most specific: regeneration stops destruction. The only things that destroy are lethal damage (marked damage equal to or greater than a creature's toughness, or any amount of damage from a source with deathtouch) and anything that specifically says "destroy". Dying from 0 or less toughness isn't destruction, nor is sacrifice, nor is anything else.

That is the thing that confused me yesterday with a specific scenario... I did not remember if being sent to the graveyard for having 0 toughness counted as destruction.
