Reality Strobe + Sigil Tracer

Asked by Eboksba 9 years ago

So here's how it works. I draw Reality Strobe and Sigil Tracer

Because I see the enemy ramping like a boss, I get reality strobe's suspend out as soon as possible. It has not been cast, merely suspended.

I then get sigil tracer out and presumably a handful of merfolk out next few turns.

The suspend slows down, Reality strobe finally goes off, and here's the question;

Once Reality Strobe hits the Stack, can I copy it on the stack with Sigil Tracer (Target the spell as it's being played as per suspend rules) and have multiple streams of reality strobe erm, strobing?

Thanks,

Yes, that would work, Reality Strobe is put on the stack like any other spell when the last time counter gets removed from it, and can be targeted by Sigil Tracer 's ability.

The copies would then resolve, and cease to exist (you don't get additional suspended instances of Reality Strobe ).

@Seraphicate

Targetting the spell would be possible as it resolves, but the core question is once the copies resolve, would they remove themselves with suspend counters and have multiple instances of a card ticking down from suspend.

Can you/someone help explain the step-by-step/state changes that occur in how they would work this way/wouldn't work this way?

Thanks,

Short answer - No

Long answer - As the copy resolves, it would first bounce target creatures. Then It would exile itself with 3 time counters. As a copied spell is just a copied effect, rather than a card copy, the effect can only exist in the stack, so will "stop existing" once it's removed from the game and cannot have time counters placed on it.
