Random cards suddenly becoming illegal in EDH

Asked by TypicalTimmy 8 years ago

Hi, I'm very new to this site (two weeks or so now) and I recently posted (albeit private) a penta EDH deck. I did so to figure out the layout, get a rough pricing, and see if it was legal or not.

It was. And it has been for several days. But suddenly, six cards simultaneously became illegal. They are:

Bring to Light, Retreat to Coralhelm, Retreat to Emeria, Retreat to Hagra, Retreat to Kazandu, Retreat to Valakut.

I was just wondering, are all six of these cards suddenly illegal in EDH or is this some sort of a bug with my page? I can not find any information on them being on any ban lists, but those also may not be updated. So are they illegal or not?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it's because the site hasn't been updated fully to include some of the new BFZ cards in certain formats. I know that if you include cards in a deck that haven't been released or not been updated to "released" status, the deck shows as illegal.

You can find the "official" ban list here. Whatever you find on there is banned, whatever you don't find there isn't.

This page provides a service for us to build decks in, and tries to educate us about cards being illegal (I know it helped me out before... :) ), but it's not a substitute for an official rules document, and errors can always come up here and there. Surely the makers of this page are happy about feedback of this sort, though there might be a different section for it.

As a side note, Gatherer still lists M15 cards as Standard-legal, which rotated out with the release of BFZ...
