Question for prioritization on the stack

Asked by RSduce 8 years ago

If you have a Palace Siege and a Smothering Abomination in play, which ability will trigger first. Thank you for the answers.

If multiple abilities a player controls trigger at the same time (such as "at the beginning of your upkeep"), that player chooses what order to put them on the stack in, and therefore what order they resolve in.

If multiple triggers controlled by the same player are trying to go onto the stack at the same time, that player chooses what order to put them onto the stack. So in your example it's completely up to you what to do first.

Keep in mind that targets for a triggered ability have to be chosen at the moment it's put onto the stack. This means you can't use the Khans mode of Palace Siege to bring back the creature you sacrifice to Smothering Abomination, because that creature isn't in the graveyard yet when it's time to choose targets. You'll have to target something that's already in the graveyard.
