Question about when effects happen

The questions I have is specifically about Thing in the Ice  ^Flip and Engulf the Shore.

Let's say you have Thing in the Ice  ^Flip on the field with only one ice counter left.

If you have 5 Island on the board and cast Engulf the Shore, does Thing in the Ice  ^Flip bounce back to your hand, or does its transformation take effect first, therefore giving me a 7/8 creature on the board?

It stays on the battlefield. Thing in the Ice  ^Flip's ability triggers when you cast Engulf the Shore, and that triggered ability will be put onto the stack on top of the spell. This means the trigger will end up resolving before Engulf does. In your example, you'll have a great big Awoken Horror that's too tough to be bounced back to your hand.
