Question about Odric, Lunarch Marshal

Asked by Garchomp98 6 years ago

So I have Odric, Lunarch Marshal along with Gust Walker and other creatures on the field. I declare combat and attack with all of them and I exert Gust Walker. My other creatures DON'T get flying right?

Correct, they won't get flying - in most cases.

Keep in mind that the Beginning of Combat and Declare Attackers step are seperate, and in the order I listed them. Odric's ability triggers before you're allowed to declare attackers, so you won't get a chance to Exert any creature before it triggers or resolves.

The corner case where it actually will work is if you manage to gain an additional combat phase, such as with Combat Celebrant. Since Gust Walker will be flying until end of turn, in the second combat phase's beginning of combat, Odric will now have a creature with flying to grant all other creatures that ability.
