Question about artifact removal

Asked by The_Kazekyo 9 years ago

If i turn a basic land into an artifact using something like Liquimetal Coating and then use Splinter to destroy that land does that mean that i remove all of my opponent's basic lands from the game?

You can remove all of the basic lands of the same name. Eg. If you make a Mountain an artifact and then exile it, then it will only get rid of all of the mountains. It is important to note that it Splinter only cares about the name of the card not the card types. Ex. if you remove an Island then Snow-Covered Islands will not be exiled.

TL;DR- Yep

I don't know if this was part of the question or not, but keep in mind that Splinter won't exile any additional cards from the battlefield. Your opponent is still probably screwed, though.
