Psychic Battle target change

Asked by Rashidali 6 years ago

I have Psychic Battle on the battlefield. I cast an untargetted spell. My opponent casts Disallow targeting that spell. Psychic Battle triggers and I reveal a higher CMC than my opponent. Am I able to change the target of Disallow to the Psychic Battle trigger like I am able to use Deflection to change the target of Counterspell to Deflection?

Yes. I don't see why you couldn't. The trigger is on the stack and is therefore a valid target.

Yes. A legal target can be anywhere on the stack, even above the counterspell on the stack.

The Psychic Battle will trigger, and during its resolution, you redirect Disallow to said trigger.

The trigger then is removed from the stack after resolving. Disallow then fizzles because its new target is no longer there. Then your spell resolves as normal.
