Possibility storm and scry

Asked by lobokael 8 years ago

Quick question, after scouring the internet for an answer I can't seem to figure this out. Possibility Storm. So, let's say I cast something with it on the field. Let's also say that it popped up either Preordain or Reminisce. My question here would be if the scry/graveyard shuffling would happen BEFORE or AFTER the possibility storm putting the exiled cards on the bottom of the library. I am inclined to think it's kinda like two separate triggers with the whole putting exiled cards on the bottom being the last thing on the stack to fire. I I think I would get to scry to the bottom before putting the exiled cards there?

The effects on the card you cast would happen before putting the exiled cards on the bottom of the library because casting the card comes before "put the exiled cards on the bottom of the library" in the paragraph on Possibility Storm

The key part of the wording on Possibility Storm is the last sentence:

"Whenever a player casts a spell from his or her hand, that player exiles it, then exiles cards from the top of his or her library until he or she exiles a card that shares a card type with it. That player may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then he or she puts all cards exiled with Possibility Storm on the bottom of his or her library in a random order."

This denotes that you first cast and finish resolving that card before putting the cards exiled with Possibility Storm onto the bottom in random order.

The exiled cards would be put on the bottom of the library before the new spell starts resolving, not after.

Two things: Possibility Storm's ability is a single triggered ability, and "Cast" doesn't mean "resolve". Once the trigger from Possibility Storm starts resolving you complete all the given instructions in order. When you cast the new spell you announce it, move it to the stack, make decisions for modes/targets/etc., and pay costs (if any). That's what "cast" means. The spell can't start to resolve until after Possibility Storm's trigger is completely finished resolving, meaning after the other cards are on the bottom of the library.

Rhadamanthus is actually correct, I was mistaken in my explanation.
