please explain ''lantern of insight'' in turbo fog

Asked by MadCheddah 8 years ago

sorry that's not a question, but i couldn't think of anything simple

if i have more than one Howling Mine / Temple Bell / Rites of Flourishing on the table, will i then be able to sacrifice it between his ''draw steps''?

Not quite sure how Temple Bell fits in here, but the answer is no. If you pass from a players upkeep to their draw step with a Howling Mine or whatever on the battlefield the following things happen:

  • The player who's turn it is draws a card.
  • State-based actions are checked
  • Any "At the beginning of the draw step" abilities trigger.
  • Players get priority. At this point you could sacrifice a Howling Mine if you had the ability to do so, but it's triggered ability would still be on the stack.

You could however sacrifice a Howling Mine during that players upkeep if you wished, thus avoiding it ever being around during their draw step.

tl;dr: Howling Mine doesn't give extra draw steps, it just makes players draw an extra card after they've already drawn their crard for the turn.

Please link all cards in your question. Obviously, missing one has caused some confusion here.

Players are always allowed to respond to a triggered or activated ability before it starts resolving. If a Howling Mine, etc. trigger is on the stack and you don't like the card you see on top of your opponent's deck with Lantern of Insight, you can sacrifice it to shuffle before that trigger resolves.

Here I was thinking Lantern of Insight was a archetype or something.
