Planeswalkers ruling

Asked by Rev_Lycan60 6 years ago

Maybe this has already been addressed or discussed but with the suspension of the planeswalkers tilling for legendary--does this open up all planeswalkers to be commanders for EDH?

No. Commanders have to be Legendary Creatures.

No, only legendary creatures can be commanders unless stated otherwise.

Unless the Walker specifically says it can be your commander, ala Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury

Ok. I am only asking because with the arrival of Ixalan, WotC released previews in response to the stolen cards and the article stated planeswalkers will become legendary and nullifying the planeswalker ruling.

Thats not quite what it said. re-read. They still are not "creatures" and the ruling that changed is RE: more then one of the same PW but w/ dif names.

Rev_Lycan60,
Yeah, now they are Legendary Planeswalkers instead of just Planeswalkers. But that doesn't mean they can be a Commander ... any more than a Legendary Land could be :-)
