Paradox Engine Triggers

Asked by Temporal_Inept 5 years ago

Playing an online game, I had Paradox Engine and Mana Crypt on the field. I tapped the Crypt for 2, cast Repeal , (untapping Crypt and retapping it for another 2) targeting the Crypt, returned the crypt to hand, drew a card, cast the Crypt and tapped for another 2, giving me 6 total mana in the pool. My opponent said, I couldn't retap the Crypt to give me the second set of 2. I didn't need the extra mana so I didn't really care either way but in the future, this is legal correct? Due to the PEngine's trigger?

Your play was legal. Paradox Engine triggers when you cast the spell, and that means the triggered ability goes onto the stack on top of the spell. The trigger will resolve first, and you have an opportunity to tap Mana Crypt again before the spell resolves.
