other players creatures and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed?

If you took control of another players creature and have Mikaeus, the Unhallowed out. What would happen when that controlled creature dies? Is it returned to you or your opponent with a +1/+1 counter on it?

Your opponent gets their creature back with a +1/+1 counter.
Undying returns the creature to its owner.
