Need rulings check

Asked by TidoBruce 4 years ago

I want to combine the cards Happily Ever After and Kenrith, the Returned King together to fulfil Happily Ever After 's 1st cost of "if there are 5 colors among permanents you control" as Kenrith, the Returned King has 5 effects, each one has a different color in its cost. (One has green, another has red, etc.) I read the rulings for Happily Ever After and it didn't specify if Kenrith, the Returned King would pay the entire cost or not. Will that work? Pls answer!

It doesn't. Kenrith is a white card. His 'colour identity', a different concept for commander, is 5 colours because of his abilites, but only casting cost matters for actual colour. Hence, samut is not white.

Your best bet are those five colour citizen tokens.

Chromanticore is among the better options if you want to play something to fulfill the conditions as it crosses out 2 card types, and all 5 colors of permananets. (And if you use reanimation to put it onto the field you get 1 more card type (mostly instant and sorcery), and you can get 1 more if you use a different crd type to place it into the yard.

Renimating it gives you:
- all 5 colors
- enchantment and creature on the field
- if you reanimate it with stuff like Resurrection you will have sorcery
- lands are pretty much guaranteed to be present.
Thus you will "only" need 2 more card types. Instants are easy to get into the yard.
And there are cards like Liliana, the Last Hope , and some artifacts that would also help with this plan.

The only real problem is that its worse than a simple old fashioned soulflayer deck.

Or you could maybe run this as an alternate win condition in an enchantment prison deck that plays Genju of the Realms as it will likely feature tutors to get all the relevant effects.
The only real "problem" is getting all the relevant card types onto the field or the yard - however enchantment prison gives you enough tim to get there, and there are plenty of card that support encantments.

105.2. An object can be one or more of the five colors, or it can be no color at all. An object is the color or colors of the mana symbols in its mana cost, regardless of the color of its frame. An object’s color or colors may also be defined by a color indicator or a characteristic-defining ability.

If in standard, Planewide Celebration is your best bet, with a single Sphinx of the Guildpact .

Transguild Courier may be a better option for the 1st requirement?
